Bicyclist Gets Ticket for Riding Through Construction Zone, Says He’s Basically Trayvon Martin

GLENCOE — An Evanston man who claimed discrimination after being ticketed for riding his bicycle through a Glencoe construction zone, compared his situation Monday to that of the black youth shot down by a white security guard in a controversial Florida case.

“She was so aggressive that it really could have turned into a Trayvon Martin situation if I had not kept my cool,” the Rev. Michael James said.

Trayvon Martin was the 17-year-old allegedly shot to death Feb. 26 by George Zimmerman in Sanford.

Glencoe Chief of Public Safety Michael Volling seemed momentarily speechless after being told what James said.

“That’s an entirely different set of circumstances,” he said eventually.

So let’s get this straight–bicyclist rides straight through a construction zone like a fucking asshole, gets told not to, and throws a fit like a baby when he gets ticketed. News flash: the whole reason you’re not supposed to ride your bike through a construction zone is for your own protection, you moron. And I’m not really on the officer’s side here either. If it was up to me I’d have let this asshole sail through on his Schwinn and just hoped to God a backhoe nailed him right in the fucking skull.

I gotta agree with the guy here though: getting a ticket for blatantly ignoring obvious rules is basically the exact same thing as getting shot to death for wearing a hoodie. I mean pretty much 100% the same situation here.

I hate bicyclists. My only regret is that I can't grow a beard.

  1. James robertson says:

My commute to work is a 100Km round trip and I cant believe the arrogance and selfishness of some cyclists.
Lycra louts? I call them clowns. That’s what they look like and that’s how they act.
I hope the legislation proposed by Pat Ryan is adopted in more places, keep the cyclists to the bike lane or the side of the road.
